Ecclesiology

OVERVIEW

Facility in the use of a biblical historical, Vatican II, and contemporary ecclesiological framework to relate the church’s mission in the world, its teachings and its activities to one’s life and ministry; facility in empowering the individuals, families, communities and world one services with a similar vision.

OBJECTIVES

Ecclesiology

1. Understanding of the Church as a sacrament or sign of God’s plan to save all humanity; as the People of God; as a priestly, prophetic, and royal people; and as the Body of Christ.

2. Understanding of the diversity of ministries and the genuine equality of dignity and action among all Christ’s faithful who carry out His mission. CCC 897-933

3. Understanding of the Church’s mission and ministry throughout history.

4. Understanding developments in contemporary theological reflection on the meaning of the Church and its mission and ministry since Vatican II.

Catholic Doctrine

1. Understanding of the role of the authentic teaching office of the Church as an essential tool of Christian discipleship.

Sacramental Theology

1. Understanding of the sacramental nature of the Church and the theological significance of the sacraments, both in the lives of believers and in the life of the whole Church.
