OVERVIEW Discipline benefits everyone in the classroom. The techniques that follow are meant for both catechists and students. They help everyone work together to ensure an orderly, peaceful, and safe setting where there is a real opportunity for faith development. OBJECTIVES 1. To develop a personal style of classroom discipline. 2. To analyze a number of discipline techniques and determine their appropriateness for various classroom settings. 3. To learn how to manage a peaceable class-room. AIMS 1. The participants will be able to demonstrate a developed pattern for handling persistent discipline problems. 2. The participants will be able to dramatize one or two effective techniques for maintaining classroom order. 3. The participants will be able to find solutions to common discipline problems they have encountered using given classroom management techniques. Use a variety of materials and techniques to present the points of content and to engage the participants in the learning activity. Working with the Catechism The following will help you gain a better under- standing of Jesus as our Model as stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. From the Catechism "In all office life Jesus presents himself as our model" (#520). Read the Catechism Read #456-#534. Discuss the Catechism 1. How is the life of Jesus a model of discipline? 2. How do we reflect that model?
