The Role of the Catechist

OVERVIEW

The primary goal of a catechist is to model God's love to others.

As a result, the primary requisite of a catechist is a love for God and a love for children.

The other training can usually be filled in. Topic 1 provides encouragement to the catechist and

establishes the catechist's role: to teach as Jesus did.

OBJECTIVES

1. To respond to the call to catechetical ministry.

2. To become familiar with Jesus' catechetical style and methodology.

3. To understand the role of the catechist in religious education.

AIMS

1. The participants will be able to share what they have in common with Jesus' catechetical style.

2. The participants will be able to witness how their personal talents and skills can be utilized as catechists.

3. The participants will be able to describe a basic plan for beginning a course. Use a variety of materials and techniques to

present the points of content and to engage the participants in the learning activity.
